Our department is mandated by the California Food and Agricultural Code to compile agricultural data and statistics. These statistics are not only used to create the Imperial County Agricultural and Livestock report, but also compiled into state and national reports, and used in calculations related to disaster declarations.
Industry participation is critical in producing accurate information. The more data provided by the industry, the better. We have prepared forms by crop category and would greatly appreciate the completion and return of the surveys. Additionally, if you are contacted, your participation in providing accurate information is crucial for reporting the accurate value of our county's agricultural industry.
The California County Agricultural Commissioners' REPORTS for crop year 2016-2017 has been published by the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service and is available now.
The Agricultural Commissioner is proud to present the Economic Contributions of Imperial County Agriculture, a Crop Report “Plus” series publication. This report strives to measure the total economic impact of our local agriculture on the Imperial County economy by taking into account not only the “direct effects” of food production, local processing, and employment, but also “indirect effects” such as farm business purchases of equipment, fertilizer, seed, etc., and “induced effects” such as farm employees’ spending on housing, healthcare, etc.
